Steve had updated his map, fixing some errors: a revised summary follows:>
Incident at Nali canyon is the first ever user-created single player Unreal level. Congratulations to Steve, who leads the pack into what will hopefully be an exciting community of authors, reviewers, and players! The map begins when you return to your home to discover your partner has been killed. You the set off to escape the area. The map opens to a good action sequence, and the discovery of your partners' demise. Reading a journal entry motivates you to try to escape the area. Your journey takes you through a maze-like duct system, which you must successfully navigate in order to escape. Though the map had a beginners feel to it, Steve has laid a good foundation here. There's a definite plot, you must think your way out of the ducts, and a good action sequence to boot. Gripes include: a lamp I could walk through, and unclear trigger to open a new area of map (I was confused for a few moments), a fight where the Skaarj couldn't get through the opening to attack me (just shoot around the corner...), and the end of the map is rather abrupt and somewhat vague. As a first ever attempt at 3D level design, Steve should be proud of this effort, and will hopefully continue to improve and create. I'm pleased and honored to present the first of what will hopefully be many new user-created Unreal levels, by Steve and others, here at my site.
