MINUSES SUMMARY
This is the first multi-level Quake2 unit released for free that I know of. It's a unit consisting of 4 distinct levels to play. There is a story holding it together, and there is a feel of progress as you work your way to the end. Let me say this: this level is wonderful to admire. It can match up with anything out there in terms of architecture, lay-out, and visual appeal. I had a blast running around and being amazed at Warren's attention to detail and simply amazing construction. The bad thing about the unit for me was this: it just didn't excite me. Maybe I expected too much from a 4 level unit, maybe my hopes were too high, but this seemed too easy, and I never really felt like I was getting 'lost' in the game. I actually made it through the whole thing in under 25 minutes, shorter than many single levels I've played. This map never made me mad! I like it when a level can make me have to re-start over and over until I get the hang of it. I never got that in this unit. I never felt surrounded by Strogg, fighting for my life, cursing Warren for his devious plan to frustrate me. OK, enough of that. I did enjoy the level, and I'm sure that it's quite a bit more challenging to those who don't spend hours each day playing Quake2, and I recommend that you play it, and thank Warren for his patience in designing such a big project, not just throwing a bunch of single maps at us... may other level designers take note!
